Come out to Urban Roots on Saturday, February 27 for a tour of this local, sustainable farm. We’ll learn more about how Urban Roots uses food and farming to transform lives and inspire, engage, and nourish the community. Youth leaders emerge from Urban Roots internships with meaningful community connections; a deep understanding of healthy eating, urban farming, and the effects of access to healthy food on their community; and the skills needed to be community leaders. Youth leaders engage diverse members of the community by selling their produce at farmers markets, working at soup kitchens and food pantries, and hosting volunteers on the farm.
After the tour, Native Family Co. will be serving Detroit Style Sliders or Veggie Burgers with assorted local, farm grilled vegetables–all prepared on their bike grill. Native Family Co. is a husband and wife led hospitality collective comprised of industry professionals dedicated to supporting local agriculture. Beer and wine will also be available.
