The beginning of fall is just around the corner, and we’ll be celebrating the change of season with our September Happy Hour downtown at Wu Chow. Join us on Thursday the 15th at 5:00pm for farm-fresh, Chinese appetizers and a delicious cocktail menu. Through their local farm and ranch partnerships, Wu Chow creates fresh, regionally-influenced dishes. Co-owner C.K. Chin will speak about why they source locally, from whom, and their take on authentic Chinese food. 
At this Happy Hour, your donation will support Green Gate Farms‘ Farm Camp Scholarship Fund and Slow Food Austin.
The Farm Camp Scholarship Fund is for children living near the farm in East Austin. For many of the children who received scholarships this year, Farm Camp was their first summer camp experience. As one camper said, “If it weren’t for this camp, we’d have nothing to do, we’d be watching TV all day.” Green Gate’s Farm Camp is an important step in a lifetime of health for these children. The campers have hands-on learning experiences with everything from feeding animals to harvesting vegetables and flowers, and helped with other farm chores every day. Voted “Best of Austin” by Austin Chronicle, the camp has hosted over 700 campers since its inaugural week-long camp in 2010. Camp activities are centered on farm-based, hands-on education in nutrition, organic systems, and environmental stewardship – with plenty of time to relax and have fun on the farm.
