Slow Sessions are the free, educational seminars Slow Food Austin offers to the public. This October, come join Eric Knight of Local Leaf Yaupon Maté as he leads us on an edible plant walk to learn more about our local environment and the wild foods growing all around us in central Texas. Eric will go over the ethics of foraging, review some important safety guidelines and touch on some botany basics before showing us how he and his partner/co-owner Stacy forage and harvest yaupon, the only caffeinated plant indigenous to North America. Afterward, we will get to taste expressions of Local Leaf, the yaupon tea they cold-brew and bottle.

This two-hour walk will be limited to a small group, so please only RSVP if you are positive you can attend on October 6th from 11 am to 1pm! Before the event, I will follow up via email with details such as what to wear and where in the park to meet us.
