Slow Food Austin is offering two scholarships, each for a full conference pass ($225), to 2014 Texas Organic Farmers and Gardeners Conference in Houston on January 30 through February 2.  TOFGA supports the people who produce and provide organic and sustainable food in Texas and provides education and marketing support to the organic and sustainable producers of Texas.

For an opportunity to win a scholarship, please complete our application below and submit by Tuesday, January 21. Two scholarship recipients will be announced on Wednesday, January 22.

Have you always wanted to go on a Slow Food farm tour, but couldn’t make it out? Now you can join us at one of Austin’s urban farms right here in your own backyard!

On the evening of Sunday, November 3rd (5-8pm) we’ll learn about the sustainable growing practices and animal husbandry of HausBar Farm and the city’s new urban farm code, followed by a meal under the stars prepared by Chef Matt Taylor of Swift’s Attic. Come out to support your local farms and meet some of the people who are working to keep your food good, clean, and fair.
BYOB. Seating is limited and there will be no ticket sales at the door. We cannot guarantee the meal will be appropriate for our vegetarian or gluten-free friends. Refunds will only be given in case of cancellation due to inclement weather.

Slow Food Austin is excited to offer two scholarships, each for a full conference pass for city of Austin residents ($100), to the Third International Food Studies Conference at the University of Texas at Austin on October 15 – 16, 2013.  Food Studies is an international conference, a scholarly journal, a book series, and an online knowledge community. This knowledge community is brought together around a common interest in exploring new possibilities for sustainable food production and human nutrition. The aim is to consider the dimensions of a ‘new green revolution’ that will meet our human needs in a more effective, equitable, and sustainable way in the twenty-first century.

Slow Food Austin is excited to offer two scholarships, each for a full conference pass ($90), to FARFA’s 2013 Farm and Food Leadership Conference on September 22-23, 2013 in Bastrop, Texas.  Farm and Ranch Freedom Alliance (FARFA) is a national organization that supports independent family farmers and protects a healthy and productive food supply for American consumers. FARFA promotes common sense policies for local, diversified agricultural systems. This unique conference focuses on the policies and regulations affecting our farms and our food.
